KALPANA
CHAWLA, a precious
product of Karnal (Haryana)
left us for good on 01.02.2003
when Columbia Space Shuttle
launched by NASA collapsed
just at the conclusion of
her journey. Sky was not the
limit of her.
For Indians, the grief was
all more the intense because
as a woman astronaut, Kalpana
represented as new generation
of her countrymen, ready to
break all sterotypes to march
into previously uexplored
territory. As a woman and
an Indian, she has done her
country proud. Kalpana's name
will go down in History as
a brave pioneer.
In
the condolence meeting held
in the school premises on
03.02.2003, the institution
established two awards in her memory
to be known as "Kalpana
Chawla Memorial Award".
These award are given to
the students who secure highest
marks in the school in Senior
Secondary and Secondary examinations
conducted by CBSE on the occasion
of Annual Prize Distribution
Function of the school.
